Choose Your Own

For this theme I wanted to really go out there and try and push the boat as far as I could. With this one I decided to make a procedurally generated racing game/endless racer. Where I got up to was building the map, and using pre-made assets I made a map that would cycle day and night cycles and also procedurally generate new tiles ahead of the player so you’d never run out of track.

This took me a long time to code but after a couple tutorials and some assistance from online forums I managed to get it to work.

Paper

This week I decided to pick something that we had touched upon in the past and use unity to create a top down shooter with a paper/drawing theme to it. In this you move around this hand drawn battlefield to fight other players and pick up new weapons to better your odds of surviving.

Fragments

This week I decided to take fragments as in fragments of mental health and create a twine game that hid it’s true intentions until the end.

Initially I started off by creating the mental health based part of it first, where it went though asking you how you were feeling and depending on your answer you were given a different answer, though each and every time you were always given a link to the Samaritan in case you needed help.

Then after working on that I realised that I could get much more truthful responses if I semi hid it within a game, so started creating that as well.

I started to then create a little roleplay game were you pick a class and fight something inevitably winning even if you decided to flee. I decided to do this as speaking from experience a normal coping mechanism is escapism into a fantasy world/game to take my mind off of things.
